MY Scubs Diving Mask

be closed when you are Scuba Diving. Your Scuba Mask is without doubt the most important piece of equipment you will ever own.

Without a good scuba diving mask your time underwater can become a total disaster. There is nothing worse than a mask constantly filling with water or fogging constantly as you are trying to see what is going on around you.

Imagine finally getting down to that amazing reef to find you cannot see all of that amazing colour and reef activity your dive buddy will be raving about because you had on a cheap, faulty scuba diving mask.

Modern scuba masks are fitted with a good quality glass viewing plate and a highly flexible silicon skirt surrounds. The strap that will ultimately secure the mask to your face should be nice and wide to prevent movement of the mask. the buckles holding the strap to the mask should be well attached and of a strong plastic or stainless steel.

These days most well known scuba diving equipment companies that have been around for many years have a huge variety of well made scuba diving masks that should last you many years if well treated.

So if they are all good then how do you decide which one to buy. Its simple really. You need to get the scuba diving mask that best fits your face. As we all come in different shapes and sizes it is only natural that masks are made that way as well.

To find the mask that is best for you simply go into a scuba specialty store and start to try them on. You try them by picking the scuba diving mask up and gently holding it to your face without putting the strap over your head.

Now simply breathe in through your nose. If the mask fits properly it should vacuum seal itself to your face and not fall off when you remove your hands.

Try as many masks as you can. You want to find at least 3 that fit tightly to your face when you do this. Once you have 3  just try them again to see which seals the best. Also check out your field of view – how much you can see to the side and up and down by just moving your eyes while wearing each mask.

If all 3 seem pretty much the same to you then pick the one in your price bracket or if all else fails go with your favourite colour.

Please note however that your scuba diving mask is the most important piece od scuba gear you will ever buy. This is not the item to go cheap on.

Also as the fit of your scuba diving mask is vitally important just buying one off the internet may not be a great idea. Unless of course you have done the above in a shop and know the exact make and model you would like to buy.
